Imipramine (Tofranil)

Primer

Imipramine (Trade name: Tofranil) is a tricyclic antidepressant.

Dosing

  • Starting dose 10 mg p.o. q.h.s. Can be further titrated up by 10 mg every 14 days up to a maximum dose of 50 mg daily, depending on tolerability.

Side Effects

  • Sleepiness, dry mouth, and nausea.

Pharmacokinetics

  • Desipramine is a metabolite of imipramine.
